The New London-Spicer School District covers 168 square miles in northern Kandiyohi County, serving approximately 1,554 learners with 246 employees (129 teachers, 100 staff). A 2018 building project added 7,775 sq ft to the elementary school and 47,915 sq ft to the Middle School/High School, including a 650-seat performing arts center, auxiliary gym, cafeteria/auditorium, classrooms, renovations and secured entrances.

Prairie Meadows Learning Center (Preschool & ECFE): Built in 1993, this Spicer center houses ECFE, Cub Kids Preschool, ECSE, and Head Start. Awarded the 4-Star Parent Aware Award, it’s recognized for its exceptional staff committed to providing a loving and educational environment for young learners.
Prairie Woods Elementary (Kindergarten-Grade 4): Built in 1985, this school offers a flexible, quarterly schedule with core curriculum (math, English language arts, reading, science, social studies) and highlights like STEM, vocal music, visual arts, media, and physical education.
NLS Middle School (Grades 5-8): Focuses on student connection, challenge, and value. Offers core curriculum (math, language arts, science, social studies) and specialty classes (art, health, STEM, media arts, FACS, music). Staff prioritize social-emotional well-being. Curriculum aligns with Minnesota State Academic Standards. Programs include math intervention, RAPP/Advisory, Ramp Up/Careers, clubs, and athletics.
NLS High School (Grades 9-12): Offers a comprehensive curriculum for its size, including English, math, science, social studies, agribusiness, art, business, FACS, health and physical education, industrial technology (robotics), and world languages (Spanish). Provides EMT and CNA certification courses. Strong fine arts and athletics programs are supported by the community. Two full-time counselors offer mental health and career guidance. A 1:1 Chromebook district, it offers traditional classes, life skills, trade courses, Advanced Placement, College In School courses, and an alternative learning program for ages 16-21.
