Canelo Alvarez is just shy of 70 fights into what has been an accomplished professional career.
Since making his professional debut as a 15-year-old back in 2005, the Mexican icon has gone on to win world titles across four weight classes.
He wrote his name into the boxing history books back in May when he defeated Cuba’s William Scull to become the first two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion ever.
Despite his outstanding success, Canelo has suffered two defeats throughout his career, falling short to former pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather in 2013, followed by former undisputed light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in 2022.
He surrendered his WBC light-middleweight title to Mayweather when they clashed in September of 2013, suffering a majority decision defeat to the five division world champion.
Canelo made the step up to 175lbs to challenge WBA light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in May 2022 but ultimately fell short to the Russian great, suffering a unanimous decision defeat.
Speaking on MILLION DOLLAZ WORTH OF GAME, Canelo was tasked with revealing the most difficult fight of his career and opted for Mayweather over Bivol.
“I have a lot of them but I think my [most] difficult fight was with Floyd Mayweather.”
He followed this up with revealing his ‘hardest’ ever fight, naming an opponent that he shared the ring with on three occasions.
“Hardest fights with [Gennady] Golovkin, maybe.”
The Mexican icon is now in preparations for what could prove to be one of the toughest tests of his career when he faces fellow pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
