It is just a short drive from BristolThere are some animals to interact with
When you have small children, you are always looking for new places to take them to entertain them. While children certainly love routine and familiar places, we as parents need variety and novelty.
So, last week we headed over to a place just south of Bristol that my friend had heard of – Chew Moo’s ice cream, on Upton Lane, Dundry. Getting there was straight-forward, taking just under half an hour by car.
When we got there at about 10am on a Friday, the site was quiet and ours was the only car in the small car park. While the site is smaller than others we have been to recently such as Raglan Farm Park or Old Down Estate, Chew Moo is free to visit which is very much welcome.
There are a few animals to look at, including goats, sheep and donkeys, and my son certainly loved interacting with them. There is also a large playground area and some toy tractors, which were the absolute highlight of the trip for my son.

We were also told by the staff there were plenty of walks we could do around the area, and it is certainly a stunning spot surrounded by nature, but our toddlers very much preferred staying with the tractors.
We finished off our little trip in the little cafe, having some freshly-made delicious ice-creams. There is also the tempting option to buy some fresh milk from them.
We had a lovely morning at Chew Moo and I am not surprised at all that they have an average rating of 4.9 on Google, having had more than 250 reviews.
The views from the site
One recent visitor said: “My favourite. Staff is lovely and very friendly . Ice cream is absolutely amazing. My kids love it. The flavoured milk section is also very much worth a go. Just remember to bring the glass bottles for future refills, as I always forget.”
And another one wrote: “Great place to visit with children. Fantastic ice cream with playground and animals (goats and horses) at no charge. Wonderful selection of flavours. Highly recommended to all!”
Another visitor said: “What a great little find this place is, very small and off the beaten track but the ice-cream was delicious!
The large ice-cream selection
“I had dark chocolate and cherry and limoncello and I can tell you, the Italians would be proud of it! You can tell that whoever makes the ice-cream loves what they do and can make delicious looking and tasting products!
“There is also a large outside area with friendly goats, sheep, pigs and ponies, with a large grass area with a playpark football goals and a little track with some scoot along cars. Our family loved the visit today and whenever we are near by we will 1000% be coming back!”
