A new poetry trail has opened along the North Somerset coastline.

The trail features 11 poetry plaques, including two in National Trust coastal areas.

The plaques showcase poems from The Poetry Field, a new book by local author Anthony Keyes.

The collection covers a variety of themes, including specific locations, historical narratives, sport, and the seaside.

Mr Keyes shared that his work is deeply influenced by a range of sounds and emotions.

The trail was inaugurated in Weston-super-Mare’s town square by the mayor, Cllr Martin Williams, and Cllr Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and open spaces.

A spokesperson for Mr Keyes said: “The North Somerset Poetry Trail is a wonderful showcase of Anthony’s work, and we hope everyone enjoys the trail and visiting the locations where the poems have been inspired by.”

They continued: “The trail also offers a way to explore more of the North Somerset coastline and enjoy some lesser-known spots.”

The poetry trail was devised by Mr Keyes, who was inspired by his love for the area.

It is available to explore via the Go Jauntly app.
