MANILA, Philippines — Price freeze is in effect for 148 essential medicines in areas under state of calamity due to the southwest monsoon and Severe Tropical Storm Crising (international name: Wipha), according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday.
“Prize Freeze is effective within 60 days from the declaration of a state of calamity in a locality, unless the President lifts it at an earlier date,” the DOH said in an advisory.

The department then advised the public to report cases of overpricing to the DOH hotline (02-8651-7800) and Department of Trade and Industry hotline (1-384).

Several local government units have declared a state of calamity due to the onslaught of habagat, such as Manila City, Quezon City, Marikina City and Cebu City.

Aside from this, the DOH earlier reminded the public that using doxycycline drug against leptospiroris is not allowed without a doctor’s prescription.

The DOH noted that doxycycline intake varies on the exposure or risk level of anyone who wades through floodwaters. /apl
