GLASGOW’S Clyde Tunnel has been closed in both directions amid an ongoing police incident.

Emergency crews rushed to the busy A739 this afternoon after the alarm was raised.

Police, paramedics and fire crews have been spotted at the southern Govan entrance to the tunnel.

Traffic has built up on the eastbound section of the M8, Govan Road, Paisley Road West and Shieldhall Road.

The M8 eastbound exit slip road at junction 25 has also been shut to traffic.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The Clyde Tunnel is closed northbound due to an ongoing incident that was reported around 2.45pm on Saturday, 26 July, 2025.

“The southbound carriageway has now re-opened however the area is very congested and motorists should avoid the area is possible.”
