You’re back at the Fringe after a successful appearance last year – how does it feel?

It’s very exciting! It’s my favorite place to be. I was worried about writing a brand new hour of comedy in only a year – but the previews have gone really well so now I can’t wait to get started!

What can you tell us about This is Water? What should audiences expect?

I speak very quickly so I really think you’ll get your money’s worth joke-wise.

Last year I did a big emotional story, so I wanted to do an hour of just wall-to-wall observational comedy. this year.

The show is that, but it’s got a little extra to it if you pay attention.

How did you make a start as a performer? Do Fringe festivals inspire you?

I started doing comedy at university and the Fringe absolutely inspired me. I was very lucky to go as part of Bristol Uni’s sketch troupe (the Bristol Revunions) and it was such a formative experience.

I saw so many brilliant things and learnt so much about comedy and performing. I came away from that plotting how to structure my life around being in Edinburgh every August. So far so good!

What are you looking forward to the most in Edinburgh?

I’m looking forward to doing my show of course. But also, I can’t wait to spend time with other comics.

Lots of us started out together and now we’re in the position where we’re all doing our own shows and there’s a camaraderie there I really enjoy.

There’s a massive group of us who’ve realised all our shows clash and we’re thrilled about it because it maximises time for us to all hang out (and Mosque Kitchen/the Ting Thai caravan).

Where can we see your work after Fringe?

I’d love to do a tour, but as it stands, the only place to see this show is at the Fringe!

I released last year’s show on Bandcamp so likely this one will end up there as well at some point but we’ll see what happens.

I’m also releasing a book soon – there’s lots in the pipeline!
