Johnny Depp Joins Alice Cooper For Ozzy Osbourne Tribute
The music world paused in reverence on Friday night as Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper came together at London’s O2 Arena to honour the late Ozzy Osbourne. The surprise tribute unfolded during Cooper’s sold-out show, with fans witnessing an emotional and star-studded celebration of one of rock’s most iconic figures.
Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, passed away on July 22 after a prolonged battle with health issues, including Parkinson’s disease. Reflecting on his passing during the performance, Cooper, 77, told the crowd, “Even though everybody saw it coming with Ozzy, it just took our breath away when it happened.” He added, as quoted by DailyMail, “The whole world is mourning.”
Midway through the concert, the audience erupted in applause when Johnny Depp, 62, made an unexpected appearance. With guitar in hand, Depp — Cooper’s longtime friend and fellow member of the supergroup Hollywood Vampires — joined him on stage to perform Black Sabbath’s iconic track “Paranoid.” Cooper, clad in an Ozzy T-shirt, introduced the song as a tribute, culminating with a raised fist to the sky in Osbourne’s memory.
The evening also marked a major personal milestone for Alice Cooper. The show celebrated the release of The Revenge of Alice Cooper, his first album with the original Alice Cooper band since 1973’s Muscle of Love. Following the Ozzy tribute, Depp stayed on stage to perform “School’s Out” alongside original bandmates Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, and Michael Bruce.
Earlier, Cooper had shared his thoughts on Osbourne with People, calling him a “lifer” in the world of rock music and “a very beloved character in rock.”
Elsewhere in London, tributes to the “Prince of Darkness” continued. During their Oasis reunion concert at Wembley Stadium, Liam and Noel Gallagher dedicated their performance of “Rock N Roll Star” to Osbourne, accompanied by a large screen image of the late rocker, DailyMail reported.
