A woman left her ex-boyfriend after stabbing him with a kitchen knife in an ‘unprovoked attack’.

Courtney Mulchrone attacked her ex the morning after a night out on May 5 last year. He suffered serious injuries and was left in a coma.

Mulchrone, 27, of Bradford, West Yorks, was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following the stabbing outside a caravan on Dobrudden Caravan Park, Baildon Moor, Bradford. Mulchrone had already admitted causing damage to a vehicle prior to the stabbing.

She was jailed for six years and three months. Judge Jonathan Rose, described the incident as an ‘unprovoked attack’ which resulted in the stabbing, it was reported.

Det Insp Mark Nicholson said: “Mulchrone consistently stated that she acted in self-defence but was convicted by a jury of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“She left her victim with life threatening injuries. It’s only by sheer luck that he survived.

“The victim has suffered lasting damage after the incident and his life has completely changed.

“I hope this sentence serves as a timely reminder that domestic abuse can happen to anyone, at any time, regardless of gender, age and sexuality. We have speciality teams in Bradford who can provide support to those who are suffering from domestic abuse.”
