AN ACCESSIBLE changing area has been installed at North Solihull Sports Centre.

Everyone Active in partnership with Solihull Council, have built the brand-new accessible swimming changing room in a bid to improving accessibility and ensuring everyone can enjoy the centre’s facilities.

The £14,000 new changing space includes fully accessible design features such as a height-adjustable changing bed, a new free-standing hoist system and a pool-side hoist to accommodate users with a wide range of mobility needs.

It will offer people who require hoists or changing beds the space and ability to use the facility.

Wayne Desmond, area contract manager at North Solihull Sports Centre, said: “We’re thrilled to announce this joint investment into our facility which focuses on inclusion and creating a space where everyone feels welcome and supported to take part in physical activity.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Solihull Council for working in partnership with us to create our improved accessible changing area. It will ensure that customers with a wide range of varying mobility, disabilities and additional needs can enjoy our leisure services more independently and comfortably.”

Councillor Tony Dicicco, cabinet member for Public Health, added: “It’s fantastic news that the accessible changing area is now in place at North Solihull Sports Centre, making it a more welcoming and inclusive place for all Solihull residents.

“We’re committed to working together with Everyone Active to ensure everyone across the borough can use our leisure centre facilities.”
