Three people were arrested following a protest in Liverpool city centre this afternoon. Merseyside Police said the protest came as the Liverpool Friends of Palestine Group held their regular procession through the city centre at 2pm today (July 27).
The force said a part of the group, around 40 people, held a protest, including some who sat down in the road at the junction of Berry Street and Hardman Street, near St Luke’s ‘Bombed Out’ Church. The march continued on to its usual destination.
Three people were arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance. They are in police custody to be questioned.
Earlier today, a police spokesperson said there was some disruption to traffic in the area of Berry Street and Hardman Street.
They added at the time that officers were liaising with the group. The protest has now finished and everyone has left the area.
