Iga Swiatek will head to the Canadian Open in Montreal full of confidence after securing her first Wimbledon title earlier this month.

Swiatek defeated Amanda Anisimova in dominant fashion, recording a double bagel against the American in the final at the All England Club to hold the trophy aloft.

It was the Pole’s first title of the season, having made just one final prior to her triumph in South West London, which came at the Bad Homburg Open.

After rising back up the rankings to world number three, Swiatek is back to her best on the WTA Tour, and Serena Williams‘ former coach, Rick Macci, thinks things are about to get even better for the Wimbledon champion.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Macci said: “Iga went to another level mentally at Wimbledon.

“Canada will give us a snapshot if the Polish Punisher is locked, loaded, and ready to launch higher. I say yes, and another level of beast mode and number one for sure down the road.”

He said of the six-time major winner in another post: “The Polish Punisher on grass was opening up the court like the Red Sea parting.

“She has the most authoritative, wicked, brutal angles since the goat Serena the Sledgehammer. At the [US] Open, if these acute grasshoppers continue to bend, she might be [the] last standing at the end.”
