Dangerous Animals, the upcoming survival horror starring Yellowstone’s Hassie Harrison, has landed its UK release date.

The film sees Harrison play Zephyr, a surfer who “deserts her past” by venturing to Australia’s east coast in a bid to find “solace”. After catching some waves, Zephyr finds herself in a game of survival after she’s abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer.

Described as a “sharp” and “exhilarating” thriller, horror fans will soon be able to get their fix of “terror” and “deadly creatures” as Dangerous Animals is due to be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 6 June.

In addition to Harrison, who plays Laramie on Paramount’s Yellowstone, the cast for the film includes Jai Courtney, Josh Heuston and Ella Newton, with Sean Byrne directing from a script by Nick Lepard.

“Vagabond surfer Zephyr has deserted her past to find solace in the surf on Australia’s east coast,” reads the logline. “After an unexpected, romantic night with another local surfer, she avoids her feelings for him by escaping to the waves.

“[There, she is] abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer (Courtney) who feeds his victims to the animals below. Forced into a terrifying showdown aboard the ship and against the ravenous sharks, Zephyr enters into a twisted dance for survival with the true monster: man.”

Whilst there is still a while to go before Dangerous Animals is released in cinemas, the “white-knuckle’ ride will premiere as part of the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival next month.

A trailer for the tale of “human obsession” has also been released, offering a glimpse at some of the depraved crimes by Courtney’s character. With various shots of the shark-infested waters, the clip promises a “new species of killer”.
