A new movie starring Pierce Brosnan has released to underwhelming scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Largely known for the James Bond franchise, Brosnan has maintained a long career that includes performances in commercial hits such as Mamma Mia! and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Brosnan has appeared in many films, ranging in audience reception and garnered particular praise for the 2005 comedy The Matador, where he played contract killer Julian Noble. Among other highly regarded movies are The Ghost Writer and The World’s End, which accumulated Tomatometer scores of 84% and 89%, respectively.

Apart from Fast Charlie and Black Bag, a Steven Soderbergh spy drama that holds 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, several of Brosnan’s latest movies have received mixed to unfavorable reactions. Black Adam, where he portrayed Doctor Fate, was a DC misfire that scored 39%, while The Out-Laws and newly released The Unholy Trinity stand at 22% and 38%.

How general audiences respond to the movie remains to be seen and may signal how successful it is. Currently, there are not enough audience reviews to assign a Popcornmeter score.

Four Letters Of Love Review: This Sweet, But Slightly Nonsensical Romantic Drama Held Me At Arm’s Length

This romantic drama spends a lot of time wondering about the nature of fate, but not nearly enough convincing us its characters are meant to be.

The Rotten Tomatoes score may discourage some audiences, but as more reviews come in, the number could always improve. However, if it declines, the overall box office will be worth checking out. Should the film underperform, it may get put on streaming, where it will have the ability to reach more eyes.

The lower rating, following some of Brosnan’s recent movies, notably Black Bag, The King of Kings, and The Unholy Trinity, makes for an uneven year. Still, it will be interesting to see where the Four Letters of Love Tomatometer lands if and when more critics and audiences weigh in.
