Bob Arum has revealed the one fighter that he believes Manny Pacquiao should go on to face next.
Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring earlier this month, fighting to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on July 19.
Despite being away from the sport for four years prior to his clash with Barrios, the 46-year-old Filipino icon put on an impressive performance on the night with many fans and analysts claiming that he had done enough to dethrone his American rival.
Pacquiao has already confirmed he will be continuing with his boxing career, as legendary promoter Bob Arum names the fighter that he thinks ‘PacMan’ could face next as he sets his sights on becoming a world champion once again.
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Arum shared his thoughts on a potential clash between Pacquiao and WBA welterweight champion Rolando Romero, as he claims the Filipino great would have a ‘good chance’ of defeating ‘Rolly’ should they face each other.
“You know, again, I think Manny would be competitive with any of those people and I think Romero who is less of a boxer than this guy that Manny just fought would be ideal for Manny, and I give Manny a good chance to win against Romero.”
Romero made his most recent appearance on May 2, putting on a career best display against Ryan Garcia to capture the regular version of the WBA world welterweight title. The 29-year-old from Las Vegas floored Garcia in the 2nd round of their bout in New York City before being declared the winner via unanimous decision.
