Real Betis appear to be on a mission to frustrate multiple clubs this summer, by trying to drag out negotiations and pressure selling sides into agreeing to unreasonable terms.

Perhaps the most high profile case is Manchester United’s Antony, with both the Red Devils and the player now likely feeling they’ve been messed around by Betis. The Brazilian’s loan couldn’t have gone much better in the second half of last season and now much of the transfer summer has been wasted for him by the Seville club attempting to drag Manchester United into a war of attrition.

Mateo Joseph’s situation at Leeds United is equally frustrating, with the player convinced to essentially go on strike and refuse to travel with Daniel Farke’s squad for their preseason tour.

The manager has spoken about his frustration publicly, and the 21-year-old and his agents are playing a dangerous game if they intend to rely on Betis to rescue them, because he’s pretty killed his Leeds United career.

In a development which sounds positive for Leeds United and potentially Mateo Jospeh too, Catalan media outlet L’Esportiu, via Sport, report that Girona have submitted an offer for the forward.

Girona, like Betis, aren’t keen on paying the €14m which Leeds United are said to be requesting, but they sound more flexible when it comes to a loan. Regardless, such a move has put pressure on Betis and they may now have to put up or shut up.
