Manchester United have been credited with holding talks with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko’s representatives about a possible move to Old Trafford.
According to Sky Germany, United, alongside Premier League counterparts Newcastle United, are ‘currently in talks’ about the possibility of luring him to the Premier League before the end of this summer’s transfer window.
United are desperate to recruit a centre-forward this summer after finishing each of the last two Premier League campaigns with a negative goal difference.
They have already bolstered their attack with the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Signing a reliable striker is essential for United this summer and reports linking them with Sesko have resurfaced once again. The RB Leipzig forward is one of the most exciting strikers in Europe and scored a respectable 21 goals across all competitions last season.
As documented, Newcastle are also said to be interested in signing the Slovenian international, 22, amid the increasing likelihood they will be lose Alexander Isak this summer. The Magpies marksman is currently being heavily linked with Premier League champions Liverpool.
With Newcastle set to be left with no choice to try and find a replacement, it has been claimed Sesko has made his way onto their radar, meaning United have stiff competition to try and secure his signature. Furthermore, Leipzig are yet to have received a formal bid from either club.
Sesko, who was on United’s radar in 2022, has been no stranger to transfer speculation in recent months, prompting his agent, Elvis Basanovic, to outline what he and his client will be looking for in a new club.
He said: “It’s not correct to speak about the names of clubs that are interested in Sesko but maybe it is right to clarify a few things. Let me tell you: Sesko is not competing with anyone. It’s him vs him every day.
“We have a clear plan for the future and media speculation doesn’t affect us. His numbers at his age are comparable to some strikers with already great careers.

“That confirms my words. He will move from RB Leipzig only when we recognise a special club. A special project with a special coach.”
United, this summer, are embarking on what they hope will be a long and successful marriage with head coach Ruben Amorim, meaning they have high hopes the Portuguese chief will oversee a sharp improvement in the coming years.
After attempting to find his feet at Old Trafford last season, following his mid-season appointment, Amorim has essentially been able to start with a clean slate this summer ahead of his first full season at the helm.
