A garage erupted into flames outside a block of flats in Salford on Sunday evening (July 27).

Fire crews attended the blaze on Lower Monton Road in Eccles at around 6.30pm and taped off an area in a communal car park.

Smoke was seen billowing from inside one of the garages, with the neighbouring garages also damaged as a result of the fire.

Emergency crews were in attendance for around an hour while the flames were dampened. The cause has not been confirmed.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 6.30pm on Sunday (July 27) four fire engines from Salford, Stretford and Eccles fire stations were called to a fire involving a garage on Lower Monton Road, Eccles.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and jet to extinguish the fire and check the surrounding garages were safe. Crews were in attendance for around one hour.”
