A Minor Injury and Illness Unit in Gloucestershire is to close for the next five days so staff can be deployed to other parts of the county. The Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust has posted on Facebook today (Thursday, July 24) to say The Vale in Dursley is to close until July 29.

Staff from the hospital are having to be deployed to other units in the county as ‘there is greater demand for services during a period of pressure within the county’s local healthcare services’.

The Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Facebook page at 8am this morning read: “The Minor Injury and Illness Unit (MIIU) at Vale Hospital, near Dursley, is temporarily closed until 8am on Tuesday 29 July 2025.

“This is so that colleagues can be redeployed to other Minor Injury and Illness Units where there is greater demand for services during a period of pressure within the county’s local healthcare services.

“Anyone who was planning to attend Vale MIIU or needs urgent medical support in that area should contact NHS111, visit another local Minor Injury and Illness Unit or if you have a life threatening emergency call 999.

“Other Minor Injury and Illness Units remain open as normal, and they are in Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Moreton and Cinderford. Full addresses can be found on our website.

“The units are open 8am to 8pm, taking their last walk-in patient at 7.30pm. To avoid waiting, please call 111 in advance to get clinical advice.”
