An “end of an era” has come as a Liverpool venue has closed its doors. Neighourhood Cafe, found on Woolton Road, shut over the weekend for the final time.

However, it is not all bad news, as the space is set to reopen as “something even more meaningful”. The cafe-bistro operated from number 261 during the day and on Friday and Saturday evenings, from 5 pm until late, it transformed into a wine and cocktail hotspot known as Hamilton’s Bar.

In the morning, it sold everything from stacked pancakes and Manhattan eggs to breakfast sandwiches and hood bagels. In the evening, customers could choose from a range of alcoholic beverages and charcuterie boards while live music was played in the background.

However, this will no longer be the case. The space is now being transformed into Hamilton House. It has been described as a “new destination for elevated skin therapy, colonic wellness, and member-only health experiences.”

Announcing the news on social media, the team said: “A new chapter begins. To our amazing Neighbourhood family — thank you for your loyalty, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

“We’re closing our doors as Neighbourhood. but only to reopen as something even more meaningful. Hamilton House is a brand-new, elevated space for clients seeking more than just a beauty treatment. It’s a refined wellness destination, combining evidence-based care with indulgent self-care.”

The post went on to reveal that it would focus on advanced diagnostics, offering “testing that helps uncover what your body truly needs.” This includes food intolerance testing, vitamin and mineral deficiency analysis, and hormonal imbalance checks.

Hamilton House will also offer aesthetic treatments, including laser hair removal, RF micro needling, and skin peels. It will still serve food in some capacity. An opening date has yet to be confirmed, but the owners encouraged their fans to follow along on Instagram for updates.

The post was inundated with comments – both of support and of disappointment. Robert Gunning said: “Good luck. Neighbourhood has been a big part of my life. From working at Pod and the hood to teaching Hospitality & Catering. You showed me the ropes and gave me the opportunities. I loved playing at Hamilton’s bar on my latest musical venture. Thank you, and all the best.”

Emma Girvan said: “End of an era and start of a new one. Good luck guys”, whereas Gary Byrne added: “So sad to see Neighbourhood close its doors. Excited to see where the new venture takes you.”

Kate Allerston commented: “So sad to see Neighbourhood go. Many special family memories and celebrations have been there over the years.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, Gill McCarthy added: “Sad to see Neighbourhood close – so many fond memories over the years from maternity leave, school run coffees and lots of family and friends gatherings. Not to mention lock down Thank you for all your hard work over the years and best wishes to you all.”
