A popular family friendly pub is serving up a treat for kids this school holidays.

Coal & Cotton in Boothstown, Salford, is hosting a free kids cinema and dishing out free hot dogs to little diners.

It will run every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon during the summer break, starting from July 30, when the cinema kicks off with a screening of Finding Dory.

Diners simply have to book between 2pm and 3pm on the website here to guarantee a space at the 3pm cinema. If the film option doesn’t appear online on the date you search for, then the showing is fully booked.

Families are asked not to make multiple bookings, to give everyone a chance to enjoy the experience and while it’s a free event, there will be a charge for no-shows.

Owner Jason Green said: “We know how hard it can be to find things to do over the summer, so every Wednesday and Thursday through the school holidays, we’re turning into a mini cinema for the little ones with family films and free hot dogs in the tipi.

“We’re really proud of the role Coal & Cotton plays in the local community and regularly host events and collaborations.”

The full schedule of films includes:

  • July 30 Finding Dory
  • July 31 Lilo and Stitch
  • August 6 Aladdin
  • August 7 Frozen 2
  • August 13 Zootropolis
  • August 14 Wreck It Ralph

There’s lots more planned at the pub this summer, including live acoustic music in the garden every Sunday and a new menu going live from the end of August.

Bottomless Brunch is back on August 2 with a DJ and sax in the garden and on September 6 the annual Oktoberfest returns.

The Leigh Road venue was formerly The Greyhound and is tucked away down a little street at the side of the local Post Office.

The place reopened in 2019 after a £750,000 transformation which left it unrecognisable inside and out and it’s now as popular for its outdoor heated tipi seating as much as its cosy twinkling interior.

It also produces its own hand-crafted Boothstown Gin, which is so popular it now sells its various flavours and is also stocked at the nearby RHS Garden Bridgewater.
