England hold a 2-1 lead heading into the decider after the fourth Test ended in a draw on Sunday.

The fifth Test at The Oval is scheduled to get underway on Thursday.

Josh Tongue has also been included despite being released from the squad on day one of the fourth Test.

He had been allowed to feature for Nottinghamshire against Hampshire in the County Championship.

As for Overton, he could make only his second Test appearance for England.

His only previous cap came against New Zealand in Leeds back in 2022.

On that occasion, the 31-year-old took two wickets for 146 runs as England won the third Test by seven wickets to clinch a 3-0 series win.

The XI for the fifth Test has yet to be revealed, with Overton now one of three pace bowlers in the squad.

He joins Tongue and Gus Atkinson in the attack for England as they chase a 3-1 series victory.

With just 15 overs remaining on day five, India refused to settle for a draw in a decision which bemused England captain Ben Stokes.

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar turned down the suggestion as they neared centuries.

Stokes was left shaking his head in disbelief in response to the snub.

The match was heading towards an inevitable draw with India leading by 75 runs with six wickets remaining.

Ultimately the match went on to end in a stalemate, with former England bowler Steve Harmison disappointed with the way the Test ended.

Reflecting on the draw during Jarrod Kimber’s Super Over, he told talkSPORT: “I think the game was a great spectacle if they had finished 15 minutes earlier.

“It didn’t tarnish anything for what the guys did, but I thought it just left a little bit of a bad taste.

“I had no problem with what Shubman Gill did, but I just think the way it ended, I just didn’t think this Test match needed it to end that way.”
