West Midlands Police have been tackling anti-social behaviour and street crime after being contacted by residents in the Hagley Road area of Ladywood, Birmingham

Acting on the information provided, officers carried out ‘increased policing activity’ in the area, and after enforcing a warrant, officers recovered a machete and two imitation firearms.

A woman was also arrested for recall to prison, with police saying that the investigation following the recovery of the weapons is continuing.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We’re really grateful to those who have reported their concerns, as communities across the West Midlands are our extra eyes and ears, and the information provided can be vital.

“We would urge residents to keep reporting issues, and where possible, provide us with CCTV footage, so we can keep dealing with specific concerns.”

The increased activity comes as officers from the Proactive Crime Team in Birmingham ‘Operation Skybridge’, made several arrests in the Ladywood and Edgbaston region, including arrests for theft and drug offences.

The force said that the increased activity in the area ‘will continue’, with officers working with Birmingham City Council on more long-term solutions to deal with the behaviour being reported to them.

Anyone concerned about anti-social behaviour and other crime can report it by calling 101, or 999 if in an emergency.
