Booksellers Aotearoa New Zealand has appointed three new board members at its AGM, held as part of the organisation’s annual conference, while two existing members are departing the board.

New appointees include Mary-Liz Corbett of Matakana Village Books; Alison Southby of Poppies Hamilton; and Robbie Egan, outgoing CEO at BookPeople Australia, who is stepping in as a new independent director for the organisation.

Meanwhile, board members University Bookshop Canterbury manager Pene Whitty and Poppies Group director Tony Moores are both departing.

Association manager Renee Rowland said: ‘Pene Whitty and Tony Moores served on the board through many years and many trials including covid-19 and the development of BookHub. Board positions are voluntary, so the time, energy, experience and knowledge given by Tony and Pene are effectively donations into our bank – donations we all benefit and draw on. It’s been a personal and professional privilege of mine to work with them both.’
