Manager Danny Rohl is set to become the latest figure to leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer, according to reports.

There has been an exodus from Hillsborough this summer, with top scorers from last season Josh Windass and Michael Smith joining Wrexham and Preston, respectively.

Callum Patterson also recently left the club at the end of his contract, with these exits coming against the backdrop of possible closures of sections of their stadium and a failure to pay player and staff wages on time.

But things are about to get even worse for owner Dejphon Chansiri, with manager Rohl set to leave as well.

Rohl’s future at Wednesday has looked uncertain for some time now, but the German is a popular figure after miraculously helping the club avoid relegation last season.

However, according to The Star, the manager and club are close to an agreement that would see him leave his post in the Hillsborough dugout with immediate effect.

Rohl‘s contract would be terminated via mutual consent, with assistant coach Henrik Pedersen expected to take up the vacant manager spot.

36-year-old Rohl is understood to have plenty of admirers in the UK and abroad, so he will likely have no problem landing himself a new job.

Barry Bannan has been absent from training Barry Bannan not training amid Sheffield Wednesday meltdown

It’s understood that as little as 21 players have been attending recent Sheffield Wednesday training sessions.

And supporters will be gutted to hear that Barry Bannan is not one of them.

Bannan is an icon in this corner of Yorkshire, having joined Wednesday in 2015 and clocking up almost 450 appearances for the club across all competitions since.

The Scottish midfielder helped Wednesday win the League One playoffs in 2023 and has notched 35 goals in a blue and white shirt.

However, it has come to light that Bannan has been among those not showing up for training recently.

Chansiri already has zero credit in the bank with Wednesday supporters, but if he manages to alienate the club captain and a legend of Bannan’s status, things could get very ugly for him indeed — not that the outlook isn’t already incredibly bleak.

Wednesday’s first game of what could be a torrid Championship campaign is away at Leicester City on August 10.
