The THINK! campaign, Drink a little. Risk a lot highlights the serious consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs..

In 2023, 130 people in West Yorkshire were killed or seriously injured in collisions involving impaired drivers.

Lilian Greenwood, Minister for the Future of Roads, said: “The consequences of drinking before driving can be life-changing – from losing your licence to injuring or even killing yourself or someone else.”

Alison Lowe OBE, Chair of the West Yorkshire Vision Zero Partnership and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, urged drivers to think before getting behind the wheel.

Ms Lowe said: “We want everyone to enjoy their summers but if you’re driving, please don’t do so under the influence.

“We don’t want anyone to experience the pain and devastation of losing a loved one in a crash and we are doing all we can to reduce these incidents to zero.”

Last summer, more than 600 people were arrested for drink and drug driving across the region.

The campaign targets high-risk young male drivers and will run throughout the summer through social media, radio and in-pub advertising.
