Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks fans get their first glimpse of prison top dog Froggy next week, as Tom Cunningham rushes to share some gossip with him.
Former Emmerdale star John Middleton, best known for playing village vicar Ashley Thomas on the ITV soap, takes on the villainous new role in upcoming episodes.
Tom and Froggy’s fellow prisoner Rex Gallagher sets a dramatic chain of events in motion when he finally decides to change his police statement over the exploitation operation.
Rather than taking the sole blame, Rex confirms that Clare Devine, Grace Black and the late DI Banks were all involved. It’s the breakthrough the police needed to bring the true masterminds to justice.

“Undercover police rush to start watching Grace’s flat following Rex’s revelations,” our Hollyoaks source explains. “Donny and Dodger are also very much involved, going on standby in case they’re called to step in.
“Sadly, the undercover cops clearly aren’t the best at blending in, as Clare spots one of them outside and warns Grace.
“Dodger realises that the officer’s position may have become compromised, so rushes off to deal with the situation himself.”
Later, the police team can breathe a sigh of relief when Grace and Clare are finally arrested for their terrible crimes against vulnerable teenagers.

Word gets back to Tom at the prison, so he decides to pay a visit to Froggy’s cell to let him know what’s going on. But he may be confiding in the wrong person…
“Tom’s new friend has been protecting him behind bars, but Tom has no idea that Froggy is actually Grace and Clare’s grandfather,” our insider adds.
“Froggy is clearly very interested to hear how his long-lost family members are getting along. Once Tom is gone, Froggy makes a call.”
Later in the week, Grace and Clare both lose hope over their future after being arrested. They’ve wriggled their way out of trouble in the past, but there now seems to be a strong case against them.

Before long, Clare comes face-to-face with Froggy. How will this tense family reunion go?
Hollyoaks bosses announced John Middleton’s casting as a series regular earlier this month. Froggy is the grandfather of Grace, Clare and Rex, so he’s sure to be a key player in some big drama to come.
“From vicar to villain is quite a leap but that’s why I love this part,” Middleton explained.
“Froggy has a very dark history and he could reveal everyone’s murky past. He knows where all the bodies are buried – perhaps quite literally…”
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
