“If you hear the whistle’s scream, dying is not a choice…” Holy crap this looks scary! I do not want to hear this whistle… IFC Films has unveiled an early teaser trailer for a scary new horror film titled The Whistle, which is finally ready to hit theaters. It’s currently scheduled to open sometime in early 2026 – the final date isn’t announced yet. A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object – an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. So it’s kind of like The Ring? And also a bit of Final Destination? But this death whistle is creepy as hell! Scary design, and I bet the sound is even scarier. Glad they don’t reveal that in the teaser! The Whistle stars Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Sky Yang, Jhaleil Swaby, Ali Skovbye, Percy Hynes White, Michelle Fairley, & Nick Frost. This is a very slick teaser – just enough horror footage to get your attention and give you the chills without giving away too much else.
Here’s the first teaser trailer for Corin Hardy’s horror film The Whistle, direct from YouTube:
A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion. The Whistle, also known as just Whistle, is directed by the British genre filmmaker Corin Hardy, director of the films The Hallow and The Nun previously, plus many other short films and episodes of the “Gangs of London” series most recently. The screenplay is written by Owen Egerton. Produced by Whitney Brown, David Gross, and Macdara Kelleher. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere yet – stay tuned for news. IFC Films will debut Hardy’s The Whistle horror in theaters starting early 2026 next year. First impression? Creepy?
