Unlike most years, Champs-Élysées did not witness a battle among peloton’s fastest men on Sunday. An unusual sight, but green jersey Jonathan Milan would therefore roll across the line in a leisurely pace, full of smiles. After conquering the sprinter competition of Giro d’Italia twice in past years, the tall Italian dominated the biggest Grand Tour as well.In the streets of Paris, organizers prepared a nasty surprise for the Lidl-Trek speedster with a triple passage of Montmartre. “I tried my best to follow the favorites in the first climb, but Tadej [Pogacar] was simply too strong and once I got dropped, I just focused on enjoying the moment and the occasion. I’m super happy with how the Tour panned out for us.”

Milan then vows to be back to defend his throne in the future. “I will definitely love to come back in the next few years. We’ll see what the course is like every year in order to decide when. It was really tough to claim this green jersey.”
