Sheffield Wednesday may well have reached the summit of their shocking summer.
Danny Rohl has departed the club, with Chris Powell also leaving the Owls after months of uncertainty at Hillsborough as financial chaos continues to dominate the headlines in South Yorkshire.
Josh Windass has penned a message to fans after leaving for Wrexham, with Rohl also sending a message of his own after his nearly two year tenure came to an end.
But, with their manager’s exit still fresh in the memory, more concerns have been raised at Sheffield Wednesday as an update is provided on the North Stand at Hillsborough.
Hillsborough’s North Stand set to be closed as Sheffield Wednesday chaos ensues
There have been doubts that the council would not be able to provide a safety certificate for the North Stand, and now it has been confirmed that it must not open until vital work is done to fix the issues.

A prohibition notice has now been served, and Sheffield City Council have released a statement about the next steps for the club. It reads (via: Sheffield.gov.uk): “All councils must ensure that sports grounds are safe. Spectator safety is paramount.
“Following a meeting of the Safety Advisory Group on 18th July 2025 and subsequent discussions with the club, Sheffield City Council in its role as the certifying authority responsible for issuing the general safety certificate for Hillsborough Stadium has decided to issue a prohibition notice in respect of the North Stand.
“A prohibition notice is a formal document issued to a club by a local authority to prevent spectators entering a football ground or specific stand until the specified work to resolve the issue has been completed to the satisfaction of the local authority.
“Assurances around the structural integrity of the North Stand have not been provided by Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and as the body responsible for the safety of sports grounds and all spectators, the Council has been forced to make this decision to not allow spectators into the North Stand.
“The Council would need the necessary professional assurances that the ground is safe before the prohibition notice would be lifted.”
Over 9000 supporters could be impacted by this update
The capacity of the North Stand, which ironically features Dejphon Chansiri’s name, is 9,225 and this will have a major impact on the potential attendance that Sheffield Wednesday will have next season.
It is the stand that faces opposite to the TV cameras, and when the Owls feature on the television, there is the chance that more than a quarter of the empty stadium will be on show to millions around the world.

Chansiri must work with Sheffield City Council to ensure that fans are not forced to give up their seats and move elsewhere in the stadium once they return to Hillsborough.
However, it is hard to see a quick resolution to this saga and fans may have to find a new home in S6 for the opening games of the campaign at the very least.
