A McDonald’s restaurant in Glasgow has been taped off by police after a car rammed into a drive-thru barrier.

Officers from Police Scotland are currently at the scene of the collision near to the Glasgow Fort on Auchinlea Way.

Emergency crews, including firefighters, were scrambled to the incident after the alarm was received at around 1.10pm on Tuesday, July 29.

The driver of the car involved in the crash has been taken to hospital to be checked over. There were no other injuries.

Images from the scene show the bonnet of the black vehicle smashed into the side of the building.

The walls of the chain have been pictured destroyed while a large cordon remains in place. Police say inquiries are ongoing.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “Around 1.10pm on Tuesday, 29 July, 2025, we were called to a report of a crash on Auchinlea Way, Glasgow, where a car had struck a building.

“Officers attended and the driver of the car has been taken to hospital to be checked over. Inquiries are continuing.”
