MERIDEN and Solihull East MP, Saqib Bhatti, has been appointed Shadow Minister of State for Education.
Following a reshuffle of the Shadow Cabinet by the leader of the opposition, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch MP, Mr Bhatti has moved from covering the Culture, Media and Sport brief to shadowing the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson MP, and her team.

Mr Bhatti and his team will work closely with the Shadow Secretary of State for Education, The Rt Hon Laura Trott MP, to ensure the Government’s policies help raise school standards and ensure every child has the best start in life.

Mr Bhatti said: “It is a privilege to be appointed Shadow Minister of State for Education by the Leader of the Opposition.

“Education is the silver bullet to building a better society. I am absolutely determined to help ensure young people from every background have the chance to succeed and contribute to modern Britain. As Shadow Education Minister, I will work hard to help build a system where every learner, in every corner of the country, can thrive and dream beyond limits.

“I know that just like me, parents across Meriden and Solihull East and across the United Kingdom, want nothing more than the best for their children. I look forward to working with parents, teachers, carers and other stakeholders to ensure this becomes a reality.”
