Yorkshire’s Will Sutherland celebrates

Nine wickets down and a dominant display with the ball from Yorkshire and yet they have walked off here with a bit of steam coming out of ears.

An excellent bowling performance, particularly in the afternoon session, saw Yorkshire reduce Sussex from 92-2 to 150-9 with Jack White’s 3-21 the pick of the figures.

But against the run of play the last pair of Gurinder Sandhu (24) and Danny Lamb (40) have withstood everything Yorkshire could muster including a new ball for an hour and 50 minutes.

Yorkshire may be thankful that they did not have to face a late test against the new ball but they have been frustrated to leak 60 runs to the last two men.

White’s bowling may have been the highlight but there will be no better takeaway for the highlights reels from this match (and possibly this season) than Jack Wharton’s stunning catch to dismiss Tom Haines.

We could describe it again and it was a brilliant effort running back at deep midwicket, but the impact is in seeing it. Seek it out.
