Liverpool have hijacked Arsenal‘s move for Salford City striker Will Wright, according to The Athletic.
The 17-year-old looked all set for a move to the Emirates after the Gunners and Salford agreed a fee of £200,000 plus add-ons, but they were unable to convince the player, who never gave the green light.
Having offered Wright the chance to continue his development in the north-west, Liverpool were able to succeed where Arsenal failed, and agreements are now in place with the player and between the two clubs.
Liverpool will offer the forward his first taste of an elite youth system and they plan for him to join up with their Under-21s, who are managed by former Wales boss Rob Page, before they assess his suitability for the senior side.
