Henrik Pedersen was born in Humlum, a small town in central Denmark, where he was raised until he took the step into football coaching.
While he comes from Denmark, he has experience managing all over Europe, featuring in Germany and Norway too, before his move to Sheffield Wednesday.

Henrik Pedersen was born on January 2nd, 1978, which makes him 47 years old at the time of writing and still in the midst of his professional managerial career.
Henrik Pedersen’s route into management
Unlike many in his field of work, Henrik Pedersen never had a professional playing career, and instead took to coaching.
In 1997, aged just 19, he took over as a youth coach for Holstebro in Denmark, before roles in the youth teams at Esbjerg, AGF and then positions with Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull Ghana.
He would later move into senior management.
Henrik Pedersen’s managerial career
In 2014, Pedersen got his first shot at being a first-team coach, taking over at HB Koge in the Danish top flight.
That only lasted one year, though, as he would soon be dismissed from the role.
Spells at Eintracht Braunschweig, Stromsgodset and Vendyssel followed, with over 200 matches managed in total.

In his managerial career so far, Pedersen has taken charge of over 200 matches, picking up over 100 wins in that time.

Sheffield Wednesday’s approach for Henrik Pedersen
Pedersen made his way to Hillsborough in 2023, joining as Danny Rohl’s assistant coach, taking up a role in the backroom team.
The players love him there, especially Barry Bannan, who praised Pedersen for his ‘mad’ approach to coaching.
The 47-year-old signed a contract extension in July 2025, stating his love for the club, keeping him there for the long term.
With Rohl’s eventual exit, Pedersen was then given the task of taking on interim managerial duties moving forward.
