A cult Manchester brand has announced plans for its first ever music festival which it said has been ‘five years in the making’.

Clints, which has a flagship store on Quay Street in Spinningfields, started life in 2020 as a trainer company. Founded by Junior Clint, it has since expanded into streetwear with tops, jackets, and sweatpants boasting bold designs.

The brand, which is loved by the likes of Lewis Hamilton, has now announced details of its debut Clints Fest, which will take place in Manchester this September, and will feature a host of big musicians, DJs and performers.

Being held at Barton Aerodrome, the festival on September 6, will be headlined by Mike Skinner, who is perhaps best known for his work as The Streets, and London-based rapper K-Trap.

The Eccles festival will also feature performances from Children of Zeus, Chip, Sainte, and Skeete. Aiming to champion artists from across the north and the midlands, the festival will also see the likes of Deed0t, Zeddy East, Victoria Jane, Afro Bop and Ralph The Sage take to the stage.

There will also be a varied DJ line-up, including Jordss, Keyrah, Stxylo, Marcel Stevens and Izzy Bossy, as well as rising RnB acts Natanya, Alana Marie and RUBII. There is also a special guest yet to be announced.

“We’ve built Clints on the back of our supporters embracing the DIY spirit,” Junior explains of the foundations behind the event. “This festival is the ultimate expression of that ethos.

“Housing both music legends with upcoming artists is our ambition with Clint Fest and we can’t wait to deliver it.”

Alongside live performances, the festival – which will host 5,000 attendees – will also include a pop-up store, a fairground and more surprises. The event will run from 12pm to 10.30pm.

Junior, whose real name is Clint Mathias, has previously spoken about how the Clints brand has taken inspiration from a host of different scenes, including U.S. hip hop culture. He told Hypebeast in 2023: “For us, we’re not limited to one thing, although some of our clothes show elements of a certain era, we wouldn’t shy away from tapping into other ones – within reason.

“New things that we create obviously have to marry with the clothes we make. As a whole, inspiration is always open, it just needs to make sense and tell the story that we want to tell at the time.”

Tickets for Clints Fest, on September 6, are on sale now and start from £45 each. Tickets here. Coach tickets will also be available and will go from and return to the Clints store in Spinningfields.
