The Heads of Delegation of Armenia and Croatia have joined the Reference Group for the Eurovision Song Contest.

David Tserunyan and Tomislav Štengl have been confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union as joining the Reference Group for the contest. Both the Armenian and Croatian Heads of Delegation have previously sat on the Reference Group and stood for election to the group earlier this year. Under the rules of the Reference Group, both appear to have been invited to the group based on “competence and previous experience”, with up to two members able to be invited.

The Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group is now formed of:

  • Anna Maria Bordas (RTVE) – Chairperson
  • Ebba Adielsson (SVT) – Eurovision 2024 Host Broadcaster
  • Moritz Stadler (SRG SSR) – Eurovision 2025 Host Broadcaster
  • Carla Bugalho (RTP)
  • Molly Plank (DR)
  • Claudia van der Pas (AVROTROS)
  • Tomislav Štengl (HRT)
  • David Tserunyan (AMPTV)

They will be joined by the Executive Producer for Eurovision 2026 and the Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor for the coming contest in Austria.

The Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group, established by the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) Television Committee, holds significant responsibility, including:

  • Approving the development and future format of Eurovision.
  • Securing financial support for the competition.
  • Modernising the Eurovision brand and raising its global profile.
  • Supervising the yearly preparations of the Host Broadcaster.

Composed of a chairperson, elected members who are Heads of Delegations, executive producers from previous and current host countries, and invited members with relevant expertise, the group meets four to five times annually. Their decisions aim to ensure the Eurovision’s ongoing popularity and success across participating nations.
