All flights out of Edinburgh airport have been suspended due to a ‘technical issue.’
It was announced this afternoon, Wednesday, July 30, just after 4:30pm that the issue affecting the national air traffic control centre has caused all departues to be held at the airport.
Birmingham, Liverpool, Stansted, Newcastle, Manchester, Gatwick and Luton are among the other airports affected.
The National Air Traffic Control Services (NATS) in Hampshire announced just before 5pm that issue has been resolved and Edinburgh Airport say they are working to get services back up and running.

A spokesperson for the airport said: “Due to a technical issue impacting NATS, all departures from Edinburgh Airport are currently being held.
“We are waiting for further information from NATS and will provide updates when possible. Please check with your airline for the latest information on your flight.”
They continued: “NATS have confirmed the issue has now been resolved. We thank passengers for their patience while we work to return to normal operations. Please continue to check with your airline for the latest information on your flight.”
