On Monday, we covered a report from Portugal which explained El Hadji Djibril Soumaré was expected to travel to England this week to sign for Sheffield United.

An agreement was already in place between the Championship club and SC Braga, and the midfielder had also agreed terms with the Blades.

What was holding the transfer back was the lack of a work permit and the frustrating process of securing one for the 22-year-old.

He spent last season on loan at CD Nacional, where he mainly played as a defensive midfielder. Braga have been happy to part ways and therefore it wasn’t too much of a battle for Sheffield United to agree terms.

The Blades have secured a loan deal, which becomes permanent should Sheffield United be promoted.

A Bola now report El Hadji Djibril Soumaré is already in England after a work permit was secured. They have more details on the package, which differs slightly from what was reported earlier.

According to the Portuguese newspaper, Sheffield United are paying €1m for the loan, with a further €100k possible based on objectives. Should the Blades be promoted then the transfer will be made permanent for €8.5m.
