Man United have won both of their Premier League Summer Series matches and Ruben Amorim is pleased with their performances.Amorim speaks at his post-match press conferenceAmorim speaks at his post-match press conference

Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United look a “different team” and their intensity is “completely different” from last season.

United thrashed Bournemouth 4-1 in their second Premier League Summer Series match in Chicago, where Rasmus Hojlund scored twice and Patrick Dorgu and Ethan Williams netted.

Amorim picked a team devoid of either of United’s senior summer signings as Matheus Cunha missed out due to fatigue. Bryan Mbeumo is scheduled to make his first appearance against Everton in Atlanta on Sunday.

There were six changes to the side that beat West Ham United 2-1 in New Jersey on Saturday and Amorim is especially encouraged by United’s performance level.

“More than the results, it’s the way they are playing,” Amorim stressed. “I think it’s really important. People cannot see that.

“I think they are playing better also because they are connecting better with each other. Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch. I think they are stronger, they are faster.

“In this moment, of course, it’s a pre-season. But you can see the intensity is completely different. I can see the data from the minutes are completely different. So we are improving.

“But again, it’s a pre-season game. The pressure is going to be so much different during the season. It’s important for them to understand that the same players can play a different game. I think today was a good day.

“I’m really happy with the players that we had last season. They are improving. We look like a different team today. Let’s continue with that.”

Amorim also reserved praise for second-half substitute Diego Leon. Leon, 18, completed his transfer from Cerro Porteno at the start of the month and is set to provide cover for Dorgu on the left wing.

“I’m really happy with Bryan, Matheus, even Diego,” Amorim added. “You can see it. He’s a smart guy. He’s a guy that came from Paraguay to come to the Premier League.

“He’s really powerful, so I’m really happy with the three guys.”
