A Bristol-based solicitor at national law firm Simpson Millar has been formally accredited by the Law Society for her expertise in clinical negligence law.
Kate McCue, a senior associate in the firm’s Medical Negligence team, has been appointed to the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme — a prestigious recognition awarded only to solicitors who can demonstrate an exceptional level of knowledge, skill and experience in this complex area of law.
The accreditation is designed to help members of the public identify specialists who are proven experts in supporting clients affected by substandard medical care.
Kate has more than a decade of experience representing individuals and families who have suffered avoidable harm as a result of medical errors — including delays in diagnosis, surgical failings and maternity-related injuries.
Commenting on the recognition, she said: ‘’Becoming an accredited member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel is a real honour. It reflects the many years I’ve spent supporting individuals and families who have experienced life-changing outcomes due to medical mistakes.
“This area of law requires both technical expertise and a human approach, and I always aim to provide clear, compassionate advice that helps people feel heard, understood and properly supported through what is often an incredibly difficult time.”
To qualify for the accreditation, solicitors must be independently assessed by clinical negligence specialists, provide evidence of their casework across a range of issues, and meet the Law Society’s high professional and ethical standards.
Each application is carefully reviewed by independent assessors, which ensures that only those with proven expertise are accredited.
Gemma Bielby, head of operations for the Injury Practice Area at Simpson Millar, added: “Kate is a hugely skilled solicitor and a compassionate advocate for her clients. This recognition is a testament to her hard work and her commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for individuals and families during what is often the most challenging period of their lives.”
Simpson Millar’s experienced Clinical Negligence team represents clients nationwide, securing millions of pounds in compensation each year for people who have been harmed as a result of medical negligence.
