Daniel Farke still has plenty of time to add more players to his Leeds United squad as a familiar target has emerged.

Leeds have cruised along nicely in this transfer window with seven new arrivals hoping to make the ideal impact in the Premier League.

Despite missing out on Igor Paixao this summer, Leeds will still aim for ambitious signings as the 49ers hope to end the window strongly.

With that in mind, there is a new target that Farke’s side are monitoring, and he comes with a £107 million clause.

It’s fair to say that the Whites’ midfield is looking like their strongest area of the squad, but with Ilia Gruev facing uncertainty at Elland Road, a replacement might be needed.

The Bulgarian will question his game time, and after new links have emerged with Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, his exit could be on the horizon.

Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari has reported that the Peacocks are one of the few Premier League clubs interested in the Portuguese star this summer.

Victor Orta wanted Luis in 2020, as the former Director of Football clearly saw potential in the defensive-minded asset.

Luis has a £107 million release clause in his Benfica contract, and has also been of interest to Liverpool and Arsenal in the past.

With the Eagles considering the 25-year-old’s departure this window, it’s probably unlikely that they will ask for anything close to this valuation, and Leeds could strike a potential discount.

Jamie Carragher is a big fan of Leeds United target Florentino Luis

To be valued at such a figure means that Luis possesses numerous qualities that could be a part of Farke’s plans.

Someone who has taken a keen eye of the Benfica engine is Jamie Carragher, as the well-known pundit described his attributes in 2023 amid Liverpool’s past pursuit.

“He reads the game so well for someone of his age,” Carragher said.

“His positioning, tackling, and ball retention are all top-notch. He’s definitely one for the future.”

Although Anton Stach is someone who ticks these boxes already, Luis could be another option, which adds to the Whites’ growing midfield depth.

This reads well from a Leeds perspective as Farke can be provided with a balanced option in Luis, whose passing looks to be on a different level.

Stach can transform Leeds, but by adding a player like the Benfica star, it makes competition harder but performances better.

It’s yet another ambitious target on the table, and with Gruev’s future up in the air, Luis would only improve Farke’s midfield fortunes.
