Senedd 4 Ukraine, a group of Welsh Members of the Senedd (MSs) and volunteers, has reached a milestone by delivering more than 40 vehicles to Ukraine to support frontline efforts.
The latest convoy, the 13th trip, saw vehicles 38 to 42 head from Wales to Ukraine carrying urgent severe trauma medical supplies and transport vehicles that will be converted into ambulances.
The convoy reached Ukraine last week, marking continued support from volunteers, trade unions, businesses, and private donors.
Michael Antoniw MS, who helps organise the fundraisers, said the effort has delivered over 40 vehicles and more than £1million in aid since the start of the conflict in February 2022.
He explained the donations cover the purchase, preparation, and transport of the vehicles, with volunteers covering their own food and accommodation costs during the journey.
“The situation in Ukraine remains dire, with much of the country’s infrastructure destroyed, and with a dangerous shift in global politics, they need our help now more than ever,” Antoniw said.
“Testimonies from recipients tell us that the support has been invaluable and has saved lives.”
Delyn MS Hannah Blythyn, was among those who saw the vehicles outside the Senedd before they set off earlier this month. Volunteers and organisers emphasised that donations go directly towards fuel, supplies, and getting vital help where it is needed most.
The group continues to fundraise via GoFundMe to purchase and deliver 4×4 vehicles that can be converted into field ambulances.
