Derby County are preparing for the Championship after avoiding relegation last season, finishing 19th and one point above the bottom three. DCFC have been looking to improve their squad in a number of areas.

Striker Carlton Morris has joined the Rams from League One side Luton Town, while experienced forward Andreas Weimann has joined his previous boss John Eustace at Pride Park.

Attacking reinforcements look to be a real focus for the Rams in this summer transfer window having recently adding Patrick Agyemang from MLS side Charlotte FC for a multi-million fee. However, more are on the radar, especially with Championship experience.

Derby County are set to continue the hunt for strikers with Dominic Dietrich reporting the club have shown interest in free agent striker Rhian Brewster.

Rhian Brewster starting afresh after Sheffield United exit

Brewster, 25, joined Sheffield United in 2020 after leaving Premier League side Liverpool. The forward mainly plays up top, but he did feature out on the right and in an attacking midfield role at times last season.

The Derby County target spent the majority of his time at Bramall Lane on the treatment table unfortunately, making 105 appearances and scoring eight goals. One of his last goals was the winner against their Steel City rivals Sheffield Wednesday in March.

The Chadwell Heath-born striker had a successful campaign with Swansea City in 2020, starring in a loan move frrom Liverpool that saw him net 10 times during 20 appearances, warranting him that club record transfer to the Blades in 2020.

DCFC fans should be encouraged by his previous form but aware of his lack of game time in recent years, but Brewster will be determined to kick on and make the most of his next opportunity after his Bramall Lane exit.

Derby County addressing goal issue this summer transfer window

Manager Eustace has spoken at length how his Derby County side will focus on stability, making it clear he doesn’t want a repeat of last season.

Eustace will be hoping this season will see a dramatic improvement in their goal scoring form, with the Rams being one of the lowest scorers in the division in 2024/25. He has previously said:

“Fans want to be entertained and I want to entertain them. I want to bring in the best players as possible to do that”

With a few more signings over the final weeks of the window, DCFC can further strengthen an already improved attacking options and hopefully look forward to an exciting future under Eustace. Time will tell whether Brewster comes in though, with the free agent likely to have some good options this summer.
