Emma Raducanu’s campaign at the Canadian Open continues following an impressive performance.
The 23-year-old took on America’s Peyton Stearns for a spot in the round of 32 at the WTA 1000 event.
Raducanu beat Stearns for the loss of just six games and won 68% of her second serve points while converting four of 10 break points.
The British number one is now preparing to face one of her best friends on tour and the latest Wimbledon runner-up, Amanda Anisimova.

Emma Raducanu has played Anisimova on two occasions, the first of which came in January’s Australian Open.
The pair clashed in the second round of the Grand Slam, and the American went up a break in both sets.
Raducanu took two medical timeouts in that match as she struggled with a back injury, but she found a way to overturn the deficit and Raducanu claimed a 6-3 7-5 win over Anisimova at Melbourne Park.
“To make it past the second round means a lot to me,” Raducanu said after the match which included 13 breaks of serve. “I was able to push past some pain.”

Raducanu played against Anisimova for a second time, at the Miami Open in March.
Despite being on home soil, Anisimova was defeated by Raducanu, who produced a far more convincing performance than in Melbourne two months prior.
Raducanu won the first set in just 24 minutes and she did not lose a point on serve throughout the opening set.
Raducanu then claimed two breaks of serve throughout the second set before securing a 6-1, 6-3 win to advance to the quarterfinals.
Amanda Anisimova says what she thinks of Emma Raducanu
Anisimova has made her presence felt on the WTA this year. She won her first WTA 1000 title at the Qatar Open in February, and she reached the Wimbledon final, where she lost to Iga Swiatek without winning a game.
Anisimova made great strides during the season, while Raducanu is having a resurgence following her run to the Citi Open semifinals.
The pair have struck a good friendship from their time on tour, and Anisimova expressed what she thinks of Raducanu before their Australian Open clash in January.
“She’s a friend of mine so it will be a bit interesting but I’m sure that we will both give it our all and I’m looking forward to the battle,” she said.
“We’ve both been around the tour. We’re the same age. We also have a mutual friend, Priscilla Hon. We’ve hung out a few times all together. She’s a nice girl.
“She’s always bringing a good energy into the room. Also an amazing competitor. I’m looking forward to the match. I’m sure it will be a good one.”
