‘Little Cat Lost’ by Sarah Spinks will be published on October 28 and will follow Dot the cat, who runs away from home to escape the loud bangs and whizzes of fireworks.

The book will not only teach children the importance of keeping pets indoors during firework displays but also the value of communication and honesty – that it’s okay to be scared and ask for help.

Ms Spinks, who has worked as a veterinary nurse for more than 10 years, said: “I feel that teaching children important messages through an animal’s eyes will engage them and help them to absorb the deeper meaning of the story.”

Alongside her veterinary career, Ms Spinks has worked in education and marketing, engaging with children and teaching about animal welfare.

Her experiences have inspired her to write ‘Little Cat Lost.’

Ms Spinks hopes that her debut book will resonate with children, cat owners, and educators alike.

The book’s engaging illustrations and compelling story aim to serve as a tool for teaching firework safety to children.

‘Little Cat Lost’ published by Cranthorpe Millner Publishers will be available in both paperback and Kindle formats from October 28.

The book can be purchased from Waterstones, Amazon, and the publisher’s website at a price of £7.99.
