Bristol Rovers have confirmed that goalkeeper Jed Ward has joined National League side Yeovil Town on a season-long loan ahead of the new season.
Rovers restructured their goalkeeping department earlier this summer with the additions of Luke Southwood and Brad Young, which subsequently saw Ward drop to third-choice.
As a result, the expectation has been for the 22-year-old to go out on loan, as has been the situation in the previous two seasons with switches to Wealdstone and Forest Green Rovers, both of which also in the National League.

Ward was a popular figure at Forest Green last season but was recalled abruptly on deadline day of the January window after the Gas’ then-first choice Josh Griffiths was recalled himself by parent club West Bromwich Albion following the sale of Alex Palmer to Ipswich Town in a domino effect.
He then went on to play in Rovers’ final 18 League One matches as the Pirates suffered relegation to League Two.
It was a similar scenario for the academy graduate the campaign prior where he started at Wealdstone before being recalled mid-season and then becoming number one back at the Mem. That year saw him sign a four-year contract which is valid until summer 2028. He also made his England Under-20s debut.
In total, Ward has 42 first-team appearances for his boyhood club with a total of well over 100 senior games having also had loan spells at the likes of Hungerford Town, Swindon Supermarines and Prescot Cables as well as Forest Green and Wealdstone.

Yeovil finished 18th in the fifth tier last season, their first campaign back at the level, and are targeting progress under new ownership.
Rovers and the Glovers met in a friendly at Huish Park last month dedicated to Marcus Stewart, a game which the Gas won 2-1 with Ward playing the full second half. Their National League campaign gets underway next weekend with a home match against Hartlepool United. They face Weston-super-Mare tomorrow in their final friendly.
As well as the goalkeeper’s loan exit, Rovers also confirmed on Friday that academy graduates Charlie White and Charlie Moody have joined Yate Town on respective loan deals ahead of the new season.
