Why do so many people here love parading? I know we are only amateurs when compared to Rio, New Orleans, Moscow and so on, but per head of population we do much more than our fair share of walking in formation, often behind some form of musical accompaniment.
There’s nearly always a parade being planned or one just finishing. There are so many here we have rules and regulations about where they can take place and who is not allowed to be offended, disturbed, disrupted or annoyed. The vast majority pass off without major issue, but most lead to road closures, diversions and general irritation for those who are neither interested in nor aware of what is being either celebrated or protested against.
