As the reigning world champion in the women’s 100-meter event, Team USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson already received a bye into the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September, so she has decided to forgo the 100m semifinals Friday at the 2025 Toyota USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships.

The decision came after she competed in the first round of competition Thursday, running the best time of the limited action she’s seen this year (11.07), to qualify for the semifinals. The day’s top time of 10.85 was run by Jacious Sears.

The four-day meet, being held July 31 through Aug. 3, will determine the United States’ roster for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September.

Men’s Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles made the same decision after winning his 100m heat Thursday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, opting to focus all of his attention on the 200-meter event.

The semifinals of the women’s 100 at the USATF Outdoor Championships are set for Friday at 7:20 p.m. Eastern, while the men do their thing at 8:10 p.m. EDT.

The 100m finals – men first, then the women – will complete Friday’s action at 10:17 p.m. and 10:27 p.m., respectively. Both times are EDT.

The 200-meter events will take place Sunday, with Richardson still scheduled to compete.
