Shared by X account Nature is Amazing, the short clip captures an interaction between the calf and a couple relaxing in what appears to be a field.

The video opens with the calf approaching the unsuspecting duo from behind. As they turn to look, the calf reaches out with its trunk and places it on their shoulders. Soon enough, in an even more endearing move, it hoists itself and wraps its front legs on the man’s shoulder, as if going in for a proper hug from behind.

The couple bursts into laughter, clearly surprised but thoroughly charmed by the elephant’s spontaneous gesture. “Baby elephants think humans are so cute and want to hug us,” said the caption of the post.

The post has since racked up over a million views and sparked a wave of warm responses. “Babies will always be babies regardless of the species,” one user wrote.

Another said, “U can see him struggling. He is happy but seems to be questioning his life choices at the same time.” And perhaps the most relatable comment of all, said, “A hug from an elephant would fix me.”

Adding to the feel-good elephant content online, another video recently captured a delightful roadside encounter. In it, a man is seen riding an adult elephant down a rural road while an elephant calf trots alongside. Halfway through the clip, the little one makes a spontaneous detour towards a small shop, clearly intrigued. It approaches the stall and, with a hopeful trunk, gestures for a snack. The vendor, smiling, hands over slices of watermelon, which the calf happily accepts. Moments later, the larger elephant—likely the calf’s parent—joins in, casually grabbing a piece of the fruit too.
